On 25 August 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, participants of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Annual General Meeting led by UWC President Eugene Czolij took part in a special session at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine convened on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the UWC.

The session was chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, who congratulated the UWC on its anniversary and highlighted its contribution to the re-establishment of Ukraine’s independence and consolidation of its statehood, as well as to this year’s historic achievements of Ukraine – the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens to Schengen zone member states. The Minister emphasized that Ukrainian diaspora communities are the people’s ambassadors of Ukraine for advancing topical Ukrainian issues in the world and called upon the UWC and the Ukrainian diaspora for continued cooperation.

The participants were greeted by Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Patriarch Filaret, Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), Archbishop of Chernihiv and Nizhyn Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate Yevstratiy, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliia Hrynevych, Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyschuk and Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Dr. Ulana Suprun.

President Eugene Czolij spoke on behalf of the UWC. He emphasized the current priorities of the UWC, foremost furthering the consolidation of the international community in support of Ukraine’s defence of its territorial integrity, and the importance of continued effective cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the UWC.

Also discussed during this session were issues of mutual concern, including the defence of the national interests of Ukraine and countering the Russian disinformation campaign, which constitutes part of the hybrid warfare of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

The participants were also presented an exhibit of the Central State Archive of Foreign Uсrainica entitled “Our Love for Ukraine”.

25 серпня 2017 р. у Києві, Україна, учасники Річних загальних зборів Світового Конґресу Українців (СКУ) на чолі з Президентом СКУ Евгеном Чолієм узяли участь у спеціальному заcіданні Міністерства закордонних справ України з нагоди 50-ліття СКУ.

Засідання очолив Міністр закордонних справ України Павло Клімкін, який привітав СКУ з ювілеєм та наголосив на його внесках у відновлення незалежності України та утвердження її державності, а також у історичні цьогорічні здобутки України – ратифікацію Угоди про асоціацію між ЄС і Україною та введення безвізового режиму для громадян України до держав Шенгенської зони. Міністр наголосив, що українські громади діаспори є народними послами України в просуванні в світі актуальних українських питань та закликав СКУ і українську діаспору до подальшої співпраці.

Учасників привітали Глава Української Православної Церкви Патріарх Філарет, Глава Української Греко-Католицької Церкви Патріарх Святослав (Шевчук), Архієпископ Чернігівський і Ніжинський Української Православної Церкви Київського Патріархату Євстратій, Міністр освіти і науки України Лілія Гриневич, Міністр культури України Євген Нищук та Виконуюча обов’язки Міністра охорони здоров’я України д-р Уляна Супрун.

Від імені СКУ виступив його Президент Евген Чолій. Він наголосив на нинішніх пріоритетах СКУ, а передусім щодо сприяння консолідації міжнародного співтовариства на підтримку України в захисті своєї територіальної цілісності, а також на важливості подальшої ефективної співпраці між Міністерством закордонних справ України та СКУ.

На зустрічі також було обговорено питання спільного зацікавлення, у тому числі й щодо відстоювання національних інтересів України та протидії російській дезінформаційній кампанії, що є частиною гібридної війни Російської Федерації проти України.

Учасникам також було презентовано виставку Центрального державного архіву зарубіжної україніки “Для України наша любов”.

“Світовий Конґрес Українців дякує Міністерству закордонних справ України за проведення спеціального засідання, присвяченого 50-літтю СКУ, та запевняє, що українська діаспора буде й далі віддано працювати з метою захисту територіальної цілісності України та розбудови України як цілком європейської, реформованої та заможної держави,” – заявив Президент СКУ Евген Чолій.
