OPEN LETTER FROM THE UKRAINIAN COMMUNITY OF GREECE AS TO THE LAW ON NATIONAL LANGUAGE POLICY En

According to the laws of nature, the woe of innocent, murdered and tortured, dead and unborn, will impose a heavy burden on the descendants of bloody persons who, during the wicked totalitarian regime, led the title nation of Ukraine to its current depressed state. They account for the fact that Ukrainians are forced to fight for the right to speak their native language at home. World history is full of examples of the kind. Without its native language Ukraine is doomed to become a colony. The primary cause to be fought for by any person is freedom. We should follow the example of our Greek fellows, ancient and modern.

The advocate of Greek freedom, Dionysios Solomos, called upon his humiliated people in the “Hymn to Freedom”, which remains the national anthem of the country up till today:

WE KNEW thee of old,
Oh, divinely restored,
By the light of thine eyes
And the light of thy Sword.

From the graves of our slain
Shall thy valour prevail
As we greet thee again —
Hail, Liberty! Hail!

Ukrainian Diaspora, citizens of Ukraine who came abroad to ensure decent life for their children and elderly parents, something which still cannot be provided for by the authorities, will fight for Ukraine’s sovereignty and its democratic development, progress towards full European integration by all means possible. With today’s statement, we appeal to the diplomatic missions of every civilized country represented on the territory of Greece. We are ready to join forces against any aggressor encroaching on our language and traditions, and the future of our children. We appeal to every person considering themselves citizen of Ukraine to make the right choice, condemn the janissary and not to let their hard work provide for the overly rich life of the “people’s servants” who are parasitising on Ukraine’s wearied people by implementing anti-Ukrainian and anti-state policies.

We condemn every single Ukrainian politician who voted to deny the Ukrainian citizens abroad their constitutional right for full participation in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in October this year. It displays the fear gripping the current authorities for their future, and they should fear, since the anti-Ukrainian, anti-state authorities of Ukraine, despite the latest technologies and the old methods, which have proved reliable during the criminal Soviet regime, are coming to their end. And everyone senses it.

Mr. President of Ukraine, every man of politics has a chance to take a sure crucial step for the good of their country, which he vowed to serve on people’s relic. The gazes of Ukrainians across world are turned on you, encouraging you to take a dignified decision. Ukraine, like every country in the world, deserves a commendable president.
